Biography:
Layla is currently completing her undergraduate studies in the Biology program with a minor in Political Science at McGill University. Under the supervision of Dr. Brett Thombs and Dr. Richard Henry as well as Dr. Paula Mendes Luz from the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation in Brazil, she will be conducting research on the risk factors for discrimination and violence among transgender women in Rio de Janeiro. This project is supported by a Schull Yang International Experience Award from McGill University. Layla is passionate about equity-oriented research and the intersection of public health and social justice.
